Kat, the MoonBlindCanary:
“Though I have fantasy novels overflowing from my shelf, I find that the book I am most grateful for is actually a memoir. Naked by David Sedaris, is like many of his memoirs: awkward and hilarious. It’s a collection of anecdotes that range from sympathetic wincing to chuckling, to laughing out loud. And my copy has a cat. I’m talking signed book, baby!
By chance, I went to a reading by David Sedaris, and before he gave his talk, my book was the first one he signed. (A classmate in the row behind me glared such daggers, I barely escaped with my life.) But it was not just a signature.
For Kat (me), he drew a cat.
Let’s be clear. This is not just any cat. It’s cockeyed with a kinked tail like a cigarette trailing smoke. It’s freehanded and a perfect caricature of an awful drawing. It’s so bad it punches through to the other side of truly badass.
I can open the book any time, and I always smile. I’m grateful for that.”
